Elagen comes to the rescue of child victims of Chernobyl

The Minsk Hospice provides complementary medical help for Belarussian children who struggle with life threatening diseases and whose parents have no other option but to continue to feed them contaminated food. This is the reality for parents in Belarus who are trying to deal with the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster. The effort to date has been to provide specialised supplements to the Minsk Hospice to support and improve the immune systems of these sick children and the reports so far are extremely positive.

During the past year trials have been carried out on groups of these children involving a variety of different supplements including Eleutherococcus Senticosus. The results of using high potency Elagen capsules show dramatic improvements in the general well being and mood of these children. Whilst looking healthier, during the trial they also experienced greater capacity for physical activity, improved sleep patterns and better appetites.

Dr Anna Gorchakova from the Minsk Hospice believes that when the quality of life is raised through improved health levels of a sick child, the stress and helplessness within a whole family is alleviated, together with the medical staff endeavouring to cope with this large scale problem.

Natural Health Therapist, Christine Metcalf became involved with the project after seeing an advert in her local paper asking for donations to purchase supplements to send to needy children suffering from the aftermath of Chernobyl.

“Dr Anna has found that the use of Elagen improves the overall health of both the children and the staff of the hospice,” says Christine.

“The winter months are especially hard and so it is very important to keep supplies going now. Funding is always a headache as there are so many calls on the generosity of our people - this is why I am so grateful, on behalf of the children, for the continued support that Eladon is providing.”

Christine’s connection with Eladon began when a client of hers was undergoing radiotherapy for advanced cancer. This elderly lady was an author and badly wished to finish some work on which she was involved. Elagen had a very marked effect on her well being and enabled her to complete what she wanted to before she died.

Eventually it is hoped that the information gleaned from trials at the Minsk Hospice can be shared with our own hospices to bring the whole effort full circle. “We would also like to be able to increase the range of complementary help available – possibly by funding the visits of therapists,” says Christine.

“For that we would need many more funds – but it’s ok to dream!”
