What is Elagen?

EleutherococcusElagen was the first standardised extract of Eleutherococcus Senticosus (E.S) to be brought to the UK. The roots and rhizomes are collected wild in Russia from the woodlands of Eastern Siberia, where E.S. has been long renowned for its remarkable properties. For centuries, thousands of people in Russia have used and continue to use extracted E.S. The active constituents (Eleutherosides) are unique to the plant. Each Elagen capsule contains highly concentrated pure root extract measured to the correct potency proven to provide maximum effect.

Elagen was conceived in order to produce a standardised extract of the active ingredients of ES. The active constituents (Eleutherosides) are unique to eleutherococcus. By standardisation the necessary active ingredients contained in every individual capsule are known and guaranteed to be present at the effective level. This is what sets Elagen apart. Many supplements contain ground whole root of indeterminate quality and unknown quantities of active ingredients. Obviously, without knowledge of the exact constituents in each measure, it is impossible to predict any effects. Only the highest quality roots are selected from Russia where they are harvested from the wild without any interference from pesticides and fertilisers.

In terms of scientific endorsement, the herb Eleutherococcus Senticosus has a pedigree that can be matched by few other food supplements. It has been the focus of thousands of research projects in Russia alone. All point to its potential for maintaining good health and aiding in the recovery from recurrent illness such as the common cold, influenza and the other viruses that plague the 21st century. In 1995 Elagen embarked on its own research project with the London based charity the Herpes Viruses Association The double blind placebo controlled trial involved members of the charity who were asked to take Elagen over a three month period and results showed significant reductions in severity and number of recurrences amongst those taking Elagen.
